Someone pour some cold water on our team

Well, once again the Raptors have dug themselves into a huge hole to start the season. Of course, everyone expected us to lose to the Nets, and Spurs, so I wasnt as frustrated as I am now with thoose prototypical losses. We also beat the 76ers and the Bucks. Now they aren't great, but they are pretty solid NBA clubs, both probably around the middle of the pack of the league. Both have dominant scorers, and I was impressed that we were able to beat both of these clubs.

Now, what bothers me is that we go out and lose 4 straight after that. The Hawks are the Cleveland Browns of the League. When's the last time they made the playoffs? I certainly wasnt watching basketball at that time. Joe Johnson is a great player, yes, and a very good scorer, but he should never have went off like that. We let him score 34 points, a total which he should have never had. We let him have open jumpshot after open jumpshot, and he capitalized. And how did we defend Josh Smith? Oh, that's right. We let him have his freaking career high of 29 after Joe Johnson already scored in the 30's.. It was just pathetic. Both of them were always left open for threes, and they just hit them. I thought our perimeter defense would be better with the additions of solid defenders in Fred Jones, and Anthony Parker. But I guess our guys like proving me wrong.

Next was Sacramento. Same thing. Pathetic defense. After we let 'em score 36 in the first quarter, I just knew the game was over. After that we took on Golden State and the Lakers. We were in both of these games, but failed to capitalize in the 4th, and win them. I think some of that blame has to go to Sam Mitchell. It's the coaches job to make sure we play well in the 4th. And now we end up 2-6 and facing good teams in the Nuggets and the Jazz. I dont see us getting both of those at all. Our best hope is to get one, and start out 3-7. I hope Sam Mitchell gives our guy's an earful at practice, or we might just lose both of those.

Someone tell the Raptors that the NBA season has begun.
